About
A warm, whimsical art studio for curious makers of all ages.
Violet’s Crayon is designed to spark creativity, build confidence, and invite artists of all ages to explore, experiment, and create something truly special.
Located in Whitehouse Station, New Jersey, our studio is more than a place to make art — it’s a space to slow down, get curious, learn real techniques, and experience the joy of creating with intention.
At Violet’s Crayon, we believe creativity should feel magical, welcoming, and deeply rewarding, whether you’re picking up a paintbrush for the first time or rediscovering a lifelong passion.
The Violet’s Crayon Experience
At Violet’s Crayon, art is more than a project — it’s a journey.
Our studio is designed to be inviting and inspiring, a place where curiosity is encouraged, skills are built with care, and every student is supported in discovering their own creative voice.
We focus on teaching authentic artistic techniques while leaving plenty of room for imagination, play, and personal expression.
Classes and workshops go beyond the basics, blending foundational skills with exploration across a wide range of mediums. Students are guided, not rushed — and encouraged to create work they’re genuinely proud of.

Her work has been published in over 250 publications worldwide, and her creative writing and designs have reached millions of readers and makers over the years. Lisa is the author of Altered Art Circus (Quarry Books), a celebrated guide to mixed-media techniques, and the author/illustrator of the children’s book Star and the Milky Way Café.
As an educator, Lisa has taught close to 1,000 workshops, spoken at 65+ venues, and collaborated with 100+ creative industry brands. She holds both a BA and an MBA, uniquely blending artistic vision with strong business and educational foundations.
At Violet’s Crayon, Lisa brings decades of creative experience, teaching expertise, and heartfelt community focus into every class. Her goal is simple: to create a studio where artists of all ages feel supported, inspired, and empowered to explore their creativity with confidence.
A Seat at Our Table
Violet’s Crayon is named after Lisa’s youngest daughter, Violet, whose imagination, joy, and spark inspired this studio’s creation.
This is more than an art classroom — it’s a place where families make memories, friends connect, and creativity grows.
Whether you’re discovering art for the first time, returning to a creative practice you once loved, or looking for a meaningful, hands-on experience to share with others, there’s a place for you at Violet’s Crayon.
